Pencil Sketch

Came across this sketch I did after seeing a wonderful antique quilt at the old ELCO show in Michigan in the 1970s. The colors were exactly the same, incredible bronze for the stem and leaves, deeper even more gorgeous bronze for the flower centers and an old barn red for the petals. The notes say that the large blocks were set 3 x 4, and that there were varying shades of red, burnt orange, etc., for the outer borders. These days I would have snapped a photo with the digital and drawn it in EQ. Wonder where that quilt is now.

Oh I love it! "We" could make it using the Tri-Recs! I envy your drawing ability.

I really like that setting. So simply, yet so elegant. Great color choices.

Isn't it funny how our lives have changed with all the digital media. I don't have EQ (except for a REALLY old version), so I would probably take a pic with my digital camera and then draw out the pattern on graph paper, just like you did. Some things are still done the old way at my house! ;-)

Hi Karen, what a neat drawing! You did such a great job, I think it puts EQ and digital to shame...and would be much more helpful to work from than a digital photo. It's a great quilt! Looks both new and old.
The quilts you took to work are so neat. Glad you did that... a little human reminder from spot to spot is excellent! Sorry, no brainstorm regarding a name for the middle one.
Take care of you, hugs, Finn

I really love the four block version you've mocked up on your EQ - that's got to go into the 'must be made' pile
