Emails from College

[son makes rare phone call to adoring mother - highlight]: "Mom, you know how you have been worrying that I am not washing my clothes ever since my foot started to rot last semester?"

Mother: "I remember."

Son: "Well, I've been washing my clothes, I have, Mom [mother snorts], but I learned something yesterday. This girl at the laundromat asked me if I didn't ever use detergent. I said, well of course I do it's right here, and I showed her my bottle of Downy. She looked like she felt sorry for me and told me it wasn't detergent. It's all I've been using since school started."

Mother: "So let me get this straight. For seven months, you've been washing your perfectly revolting clothes in fabric softener and they've only been getting..."

Son: "...really soft."

Another great email conversation with college son! LOL. I bet he's getting laundry soap for his next gift.

I get such a kick out of quoting my grandchildren, but your college boy is just as funny! Isn't it amazing how much escapes them?

How hilarious!!! Having raised two sons myself, I could probably trade some good war stories with ya! Good thing some female took pity on him and clued him in LOL!

Thanks for sharing the entertaining conversation with your son! I teach Spanish to college students and was amazed when one of my students told me that she doesn't wash her clothes because it is too much work (she'd have to walk down a flight of stairs to the laundry room in the basement), she just brings all her clothes home during breaks or at the end of the semester for her mom to wash! I feel sorry for her roommate. At least your son tries to wash his clothes.

Oh dear! I've done this before too - the Downy was RIGHT next to the laundry soap and it said in itty bitty tiny letters - fabric softener. 1 load of wash and my poor Little Boy was itching and scratching away so I figured it out in one quick hurry - but I do see how this happened to your son. He is going to be so amazed when he actually washes with SOAP at how clean his clothes become, LOL!

Cheers!
