New

This is Timmy's first day of Marines boot camp at Parris Island. He's been thinking about this for so many years. Good Luck, Timmy! I don't even want to know about that "impounded" truck you mentioned on the phone an hour before the recruiter picked you up :-)

Out of fear that I did not have enough projects, I began Wanda Hizer's famed Les Fleurs du Jardin class last Sunday. This is the first section, sans flowers:

You'll do fine, Mom. Don't succumb to the urge of sending a care package . . . . you'll only make his life miserable *s*

God speed to your son. Mine left as a boy and returned as a man. My challenge was trying to find him at the graduation ceremony - they all looked alike.

Good Luck Timmy! I hope you love the Marines!!! And Mom, you're so funny -- what we don't know, won't hurt us, right? That block looks fabulous -- really, truly beautiful. I can't wait to see more.

Your son looks great and he'll be fine. Nothing like a man in uniform.

I LOVE that block!

Every single one of us who comes for a visit and ends up staying for a long while, will take that boy and hold him close to our hearts! You're going to do better than you think...you're as strong and determined and independent as that handsome young man is!!!

Isn't it thrilling and heart-rending at the same time to watch them become men?

I enjoyed catching up on your blog today. Best of luck to Timmy in the Marines. The shoes are awesome. I'm clicking right over there as soon as I'm finished with the comment. Your Jane blocks are looking great. Love the Christmas quilt from Marcie's pattern. The fish pillow was funny and I enjoyed the virtual quilt show.

You know I've been through this, too. So much pride, so much worry. Warn him he's not allowed to swat the mosquitoes--they outrank him.I share your pride, and wish Tim well. My Marine is home, having dones is first four years active. He is currently nursing me through a knee replacement as my coach, he's the only one that can get 'mean' enough with me to do the job. Send in the Marines!
