Very Funny Rembrandt

Rembrandt uses my canvas floorcloth as a play tent.

There has truly been a death in the family. This minivan is a top of the line 1995 model and I have had it all of its life. At the time of its death last night, it had some transmission trouble and the driver's door would no longer close (yes, I was barreling up and down the expressway with nothing between me and the open pavement), but it got 23.5 mpg overall and I raised my son in it. Oh, so many scenic drives through the mountains, the camping trips, the soccer games, 186,000 miles of living. At the dealership, I told it over and over how I had loved it and I love it still. I could hear it crying for me as I bought the Honda Fit and abandoned Dear Dear Minivan.

Now I have this. It's okay, I guess. There's no room for my purse and no place to put a drink bigger than a Dixie cup, but it has a power outlet, iPod outlet, and a USB outlet. But I want you back, Old Blue!

I know exactly how you feel, my dearly beloved was a blue Datsun station wagon and I still dream about it and wake up disappointed..

I drove a Tracker for many years as a traveling nurse. Stubbs (my tracker's name) has been coast to coast with me and border to border. My DH bought me a Honda CR-V in November. I love the Honda but can't let go of Mr. Stubbs who I still take for his little joy rides about once or twice a week. It's like letting go of a favorite pet...just can't do it.

Hi Karen, I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one that gets so very attached to my 'stuff'. When I got the new car, I had to make sure I didn't look back or I'd be sad for the old one.
Your new car is such an adorable colour, and I'm sure it'll get great mileage cuz it's so tiny. Together you'll make lots of new 'memories'.
*hugs*

Isn't it funny how our memories can be tied to a vehicle? I'm sure you'll be making many new and fun memories in your new spiffy van. It's lovely!

I feel the same way about my Jeep! So far, so good and it only has 70,000 miles but because it is almost 10 years old everyone seems to think I need a new car! NOT!!! Hope you enjoy your new car as much as your minivan - it looks pretty cool to me!

RIP dear sewprimitive minivan. It had a nice long life. But now you have a great snazzy zippy little car with outlets! I think your new car needs a name and maybe you'll grow to love it.

Rembrandt is such a funny cat! You never know where she'll show up next!

Rembrandt is so giggly! I love the color of your new ride but gosh did you sure get a lot of miles out of Old Blue. We all hope for that. Although it's odd to imagine having a car with a USB outlet. Very new Millennium.

Always love kitty photos!
Was yours a C4C deal? I think the Honda Fits are wonderful little cars. Funny how we can attach ourselves to our cars! My DH mentioned trading in mine and I got tears!

Be patient - your heart will open to the new ride. How do I know? Almost 2 years ago, I had to leave behind my beloved Jeep - we had been together since '93 and traveled a similar number of miles together. It never once let me down, but still I had to say goodbye. I cried and cried.
I found it difficult to open up to the new truck - so big it almost didn't fit in our garage. After all this time and our recent cross country road trip, I think I have found love for that truck . . . . still nothing will EVER replace my beautiful and faithful Jeep, the one that now lives on as an organ donor so that other Jeeps can stay on the road *s*

That Rembrandt steals the show all the time! Sorry about the van. I have a Honda van and I love it. I have had it for 3 1/2 years. But I am really wanting a Honda Element and that color of your new FIT. Bad. They are coming out with a Dog edition this fall. That is what I really want!
