new apron, new room

Finished this shop sample, a Christmas apron, this morning.

Now that Timmy's at school, it was finally time to clean his poor room. I just didn't know how to do it when it was so full. Spent six hours yesterday removing things, making trips to the street with things, putting things aside for a garage sale, putting his keepers in the closet and downstairs. You know what was there. Every toy purchased in the past ten years, scads of too-small clothes, hundreds of books, two computer desk/towers, shelves, table, computer, TV, video camera accessories, paintball paraphernalia, old comforters (guess he decided not to bring his blankie with him, which he used to not only sleep under but walk around wrapped up in like a toga), etc. Spent two more hours cleaning and moving in this large mahogany bureau that I bought at the beginning of the summer and have been visualizing being in here. I tend to stuff rooms to bursting and I want this room at least to stay lightly furnished.

I'm in the process of cleaning bedrooms too! I had 2 move out after years of what I call the "yo-yo" stage...off to college, home for summer break. Used to tell others my house has a revolving door. Mine are now through with advanced degrees and employed! Your room looks wonderful.

What a nice mom - doing the clean up yourself *s* That dresser is a lovely piece . . . just think of it with a little quilted runner across the top *yummy*

Oh I love the apron! I half look forward to a room to be "empty" but kind of dread doing the cleaning!

The room looks lovely. One thing I didn't regret about the boys moving out was their disaster zones going with them! I do miss all my spare bedrooms in the Marietta house.

Had to get caught up with your blog; love the apron, my heart tugged for your son leaving, but felt relief with you at a clean room.

Wow, Karen -- you're GOOD! I didn't get around to emptying Nick's and Dave's rooms until years after they went away to college! (Actually, much of their "stuff" is still out in the garage in boxes.)
That dresser is lovely.

Love that apron!
Dont throw/give away any of the toys. He might be like my adult son, who discovered he had had toys worth 'a mint' that got given away!
Enjoy the room how you want it!
