I'm with you - I always have to organise the pieces when I'm making log cabin blocks. It just seems to make things go together better.
Those pinks and browns look lovely - you're definitely a girl after my own heart!

I see you went with the orange centers! They look great! I'm sure the black would have worked fine, but it would have given a whole different look to the quilt. Have fun!

I've already bought some of that fabric - first full price fabric I've bought in a long time. It is very beautiful. I'll be interested to see what you make out of it.
Your logs look great! I'm anxious to see what you're going to do with the pinks and browns. I have a huge pile and can't settle on a project.

Yeah I'm doing a log cabin - goodness it's confusing! I made the first few - well probably five - "wrong", but I think I'll be able to use them... Good luck!
I thought I was the only nitwit who got the logs confused on the log cabins!

There's a great deal to be said for setting your stall out carefully before you start - saves any frustration and frogstitching down the way - you were right to use that burnt orange for the centres a black would have deadened the effect - really like the way these are turning out :o)
Ladies,
I'm working on a log cabin quilt for the first time and I read something that helped me.
When you get ready to sew the next log on the block, make sure that the last log you sewed is pointing to your tummy. That way, you'll always be sewing the correct side.
As to whether it's a dark or a light log, you have to fink a way to keep that straight if you're working like me and you have blocks in all different stages, LOL.
I'm not one of those girls that can add the same log to the block until they're all done, LOL. I have blocks in all different stages.

I love how your log cabin blocks are turning out. I've also enjoyed reading about your son leaving home. You're much more organized than I was when mine left -- I just left their rooms as they were and closed the door. The oldest has returned home until he marries next spring -- so he's had to deal with all the junk collected from high school. I have enough of my own junk to clean through LOL!
Those blocks exude a feeling of fall. Great colors...and organization!!!

I love log cabins but they can drive a person nuts sometimes. Your blocks are so pretty!!
