Kaffe Fassett

Some Stack n Whack / One Block Wonder blocks from a Kaffe Fassett print (more interesting if you enlarge pic). Instead of putting them right next to one another, I want to do a brown gingham sashing. Tried the one quilt shop I can reach after work last night with no luck. Wasn't really expecting them to have it, it's not a Brown Gingham sort of shop. So what's a Dedicated Quilter to do? Naturally take a day off work to go check other shops. Que veux-tu??
Of course, once you've done one set of these blocks (and surely I must be the last one on the block to try a set), you get addicted and want to make more. I had nothing of sufficient length in my fabric collection suitable for these things, so have ordered a few more fabrics to try out:
I especially can't wait to see the third one cut up.

They look wonderful and I love that weathervane fabric you chose. Your blog is delightful to read, so much wonderful quilting eye candy!

Ya know, I had the same feelings... But my second one was a stack & oops...

I love the first two fabrics that you chose - in general.

I've never done a stack and whack - yours are fabulous. I can't wait to see the third one, as well - those weathervanes are great.

I haven't tried stack and whack either although it's always interested me. Yours look great! I'll have to give it a try one of these days--I know I have one of the books here somewhere . . . .

Spectacular results! I have a fabric selected to give this a try...just need to clear the decks of some havtados first. Hey, I can hook you up with some brown gingham...

Love the Kaffe blocks, have been thinking about buying the One Block Wonder book as a reward for my week of purgatory ending. Now I think the decision is made! Thanks.

I think those blocks will look awesome against the brown you plan. My favourite of your next three fabrics is the first one (like a map)

I LOVE them. Normally I don't really care for teal and brown - but WOW, I love this! I was just cutting up some fabric for a sort-of stack and whack type thing! Funny that! But it is a Jan Patek fabric - nothing funky! I"ll be posting in a few days my progress!

Well, what a surprise. You have all sorts of hidden facets to your quilting personality! This is quite a way from primitive. This fabric is certainly a perfect choice for this project - so many stack and whacks I've seen in the last year or two weren't done with varied enough fabric and the blocks all looked very similar. I love your idea of using the brown gingham to put it together!

Stack-and-whack is still somewhere down on my Someday list ...
Meanwhile, I LOVE that Snowflake Lodge fabric.

I have not yet done the one-block wonder. Did not enjoy the stack n whack process too much. Hated the precise stacking. I'm too impatient for that precision. But loved seeing how the blocks turned out... I love yours here. Great fabric choice, and so pretty as these diverse blocks.

Someday...The KF fabric does seem to work well with this and I do have stacks of it in the shelves and I do love the way yours are coming out...quilting rationalization...maybe!

WOW, I don't usually like stack-n-whack projects, but those are gorgeous!

I am visiting via the Calico Cat...anyway...I have always loved the stack n whack method, and finding one block wonders just revived it for me! I have to chuckle over our fabric choices, tho....look on my blog, it's explains it better than words do...LOL
