Big Stitch Examples

Amy asked about the Big Stitch quilts on display at LQS; I got some photos today of them when making a sudden, glorious trip to the shop once I realized they would probably be open today on my day off (!!):

Isn't the stitching pretty? Be sure to click on 'em to see them enlarged. Note: Jenni asked about stitch size...I would say they average between 1/4" and 1/8"....?

Oooohhhh, I really like those big stitches. I've stopped hand quilting so much of late, but with stitches like that, I can see projects getting finished so much faster!
Thank you so much for sharing!

Those stitches are so nice and even! I have more problems with large stitching then I so small. I really like the look though. What kind of thread did they use?

They are wonderful...thank you for sharing those. I love big stitch but sometimes have a hard time making my stitches really even.

They all look wonderful. The stitches are still not that big, except maybe the first example? What are the stitch sizes approx?

oooohhhh, you went and didn't tell me!! I considered going over, but decided to wait till mid way between last weeks class and the next one. Gotta space out my jaunts! Aren't those quilts terrific? But I think that you have to do even better stitching on big stitch because irregularity really shows.

Thanks so much for sharing! (I am in love with that orange quilt - no idea why...) & is that Appliquilting on the moon in the bottom shot?

And How cool to use dark thread on the lights and light thread on teh ddarks in the log cabin....

Very cool & much appreciated!

I love the big stitches. I think any mistakes would be even more visible though. Maybe some practise would be needed.

WOW, I love those big stitches. Think I will try it on one of my quilts. What sort of thread do you use for big stitches.

I think if all of your stitches are "off" then it doesn't show as a mistake, right? (I am going to do this in my paducah 9-patch - as soon as I get her pieced... 2 machines and 2 piecers makes for real interesting piecing...)

Oh I love them all, but I really like the stitching in the first picture with that black thread!

Beautiful--thank you for sharing. I've done a couple big stitch quilts, and it is initially difficult to get the stitches the same size. But, after a while, it all works out.

The pictures of your stitches is really an inspiration to me. I've been trying this and learning as I go...maybe someday mine will look 1/2 as good as yours! I've decided my stitches have been too small so I'll work on that.
