Sale

Wow, Vicky has 13 comments already on her August challenge to Buy No Fabric. I admire you all for participating, but Dear Reader, as you will see from the following photos, I did not join the challenge :-). The LQS was having a Flea Market sale, so I got the bottom three fabrics at 50% off and the top two at $1 a fat quarter:

This stack was $3; I hope to make a "lap" quilt to put at the foot of my bed where my black cat Jack likes to sleep:

These 17 antique hand-sewn blocks were $25; aren't they nice? I especially like the four red plaid ones:

I was looking for some Halloween fabric to go with four vintage-postcards-printed-on-fabric that I finally couldn't resist from eBay (have you looked at them?), and found the $1 fat quarter at the next LQS, plus the fabric for the Halloween outer border (not on sale :-) ):

And the final item in my Haul for today is the FedEx delivery of the following fabrics, Jo Mortons on half-off sale and the top fabric from Rosie O'Day line, not on sale. The sage Jo Morton faces fabric is supposed to be beige for the JoMortonStitchers list swap. Dang. It needs to be light enough to write on, so I think I'll try the Blackbird Designs ladies' idea of using Color Remover to manipulate the color. Wish me luck, last time I tried this, I got white fabric.

Gail, chintz sounds good for the leaders/enders. Hanne, I have one of those Fiskars sharpeners....if I could just find it. Finn, most fortunately, I set up Bloglines a week or so ago (Blogarithms before that, but I'm finding Bloglines more enjoyable to use). Thank goodness, I'd be in withdrawal without Bloglines. Amy, I probably have a few more quilt tops like this LOL.

You could play, Karen - after all this is still July! All your purchases are this month - not next LOL! That's what I figured when I said I'd play. Got a lot of new fabrics in July so I should be able to be good for August. At least that's the plan - other than my visit to the vendor mall at the huge Seattle Northwest quilt show next month, which Vicki says doesn't count! :-)

That's a nice haul! You did great and I can't wait to see what comes from them. :)

Oh but this is the PERFECT time to join the challenge. It doesn't start until August and this shopping spree might be able to hold you until September. Of course I joined and I'm wondering now how the heck I'm going to have the willpower to leave the on-line shops alone.

Wow, great deals!!! I never find Jo's fabric half-off (whine whine).

Love the blocks - I've bought some off eBay but they've joined my other stack of UFO's. One day I will get to them.

Hmmm, you've been a BUSY girl :)

Let us know how the color remover experiment goes -- I've read about it but haven't tried it yet.

Lovely blocks :-) I figure a NoBuy for August will not be difficult for you should you like to play too ;-)

Since you really like the 4 red blocks, you can send me a dozen of the blue ones! :o)

I quit counting how many "early" pieces I have....

Wow you got some great buys! I love the Halloween postcards! I also have to comment on your folk art blocks (I am trying to play catch up here!) they are fantastic! I was lucky enough to take 2 classes from Lori Smith last year and see many of her quilts close up. This one was fabulous.

Oh, I would have a hard time commiting to NOT buying fabric. You got all those wonderful bargains and wonderful fabrics. It would be awful to miss out on that!

Ooh, I can't wait to see what you do with that Halloween fabric - love it. And I adore those vintage postcards too - look like a great project.

I've been using Blogarithms and haven't loved it. Good to know that you like Bloglines better - I'll have to check it out.

Oh, and those antique star blocks are fabulous too!

You can still join in the 'don't buy in August' thing... just buy quick before it's August!

Love the antique blocks - and in plaids, one of my favorites. What a lovely price, too!
