On a terrible note, I have been so worried about Timothy, long time since a phone call, I was having very bad nightmares and just puttering around here not doing much. Heard from him yesterday. A young man in his small group got killed by a grenade. This meant they were on lockdown for a few days when they got back from the patrol and he could not call until that was over.
Somebody else's boy.

Your block is just fabulous. Love how you are incorporating images into your blocks. So sorry to hear about the loss of someone's brave wonderful son. I wish they would just bring all the troops home already.
Try to keep busy Karen. Easier said than done. I'll be glad when Timothy is back home. This can't be easy for you. I wish we'd bring them all home right now! That's so sad about the Marine in his unit.
Karen, so sorry to hear about Tim's brother in arms. I have been in your worried shoes. Jim was in Iraq for the battle of Fallujah, his sector took 20%of the casualties. I don't remember nightmares, but I lost some reality:
There were days that I wouldn't go to the front of the house, because if I did, I might see two Marines walking up the drive to give me bad news, but if I didn't see them, they couldn't come, could they.
Wish they were all home, safe with loved ones. Will continue to pray for Tim's safe return.
Oh Karen, you felt something was wrong and it was, sorry for the loss of his fellow Marine in the line of duty. Prayers for the safe return of your son Timothy.
You are in a stressful time of your life too - hugs and prayers.

Ohmygosh.....how sad. My heart cringes when I hear that.
My heart breaks for each and every boy that doesn't make it back alive or whole. Stay strong. I keep you and Timmy in my thoughts.
Always interesting to see how you do something special with the blocks.
I am glad that your son is safe. A mother always worries.
Did you ever draw your own borders for the Bride quilt? I know you were thinking about it.
I'm sorry to hear about the young man in Timothy's group. It's a tragedy to lose someone so young. Our brave troops are always in my thoughts and prayers.

I pray that Timmy will be safe, this killing of fine young men is such a waste. You and he must have a strong bond; Keryn and I have stories of knowing when the other one was in danger. March on the day when he comes back safe to you..
Oh that is so sad. I know you must be relieved it was not Timmy, but it is awful it has to happen to anyone.
Your block is beautiful! While it is wonderful that your Timothy is fine my heart breaks for the family of the soldier who won't have their son return home. I am thankful for all of the armed forces who protect and serve our country!
Bring them home. Bring them home. My heart suffers for the families of those who have been lost.
It is so far past the time to bring our brave men and women home. My continued thoughts of a safe return are with Timothy.
Karen, I am so glad you heard from your son and very sorry to hear about his fellow Marine. These are very difficult times. Hugs and prayers are being sent your way!
I miss attending the embroidery club . . . Happy to watch your Civil War BOM - beautiful work.
I'm so sorry- for the parents and family of that boy, and I'm sorry for the distress it causes you too. I think the mothers of soldiers deserve medals for endurance, and the bravery to carry on despite everything. Continuing, as ever, to hold you and your Timmy in my thoughts.
