Sunday Morning

The latest Temecula star.  Notice the two points that are badly off.  Chemo-brain.  Just had a fresh, full-strength (see below) session on Friday.  Might do them over but I will definitely paper piece the stars to follow.

The most extraordinary thing happened last week.  At exactly when I felt best since this chemotherapy began (they had to dial it down a bit the last session because they finally realized they were killing me), the opportunity for a trip arose thanks to a dear friend in the midwest, MJ by name, and I got to see four of the best quilt shops in the country.  You must realize that due to poverty, I have barely gotten out of Georgia in at least 25 years, except for quick trips to the Smokies and whatnot.  I was thrilled to get all the way up to Wisconsin!!  Will show pictures on next post.

Meanwhile, here is the vintage cardboard suitcase I bought to use as a carry-on on the return trip.  I had most of what I purchased in it, except for a yardage piece, four FQs, and a little kit:

I think Rembrandt wants me to convert this to a kitty bed, which is actually a pretty good idea:

Looking forward to showing you pictures of the shops next time!

I wish my mother would have kept the old suitcase she had like this. It was stored away with fabric in it at one time. Long ago given away. What a nice reminder of your trip....and full of fabric.

Nothing better than a road trip with a friend! Especially when that trip is in WI - there are some great shops there. I can't wait to hear the details (and see more of your goodies!).

Love your suitcase...what a find!! And what a great opporunity to visit shops in midwest with your friend :) I don't know about Atlanta, but here in south GA, we don't have too many shops :(

I have a similar suitcase that I used to use for travel by Greyhound bus to Grandma's house. I know it! I was allowed at the tender age of 8 to ride the Greyhound bus some 90 miles, alone and unchaperoned complete with a 30 minute dinner stop and change of bus *gasp* My how times have changed. Anyway, that suitcase is now part of the quilt space decor. I love getting a peek at your purchases and filled with delighted anticipation at hearing the stories from your trip.

I love your vintage suitcase! I have a few of them and stack them for a little table. (Of course, they make great storage too!)
How fun to have a getaway!! It's always good for the mind and body.

Oh, where did you find that suitcase?? I think I'd carry with me everywhere for weeks if I could get one of those. I am so sorry the chemo is so brutal for you. I hope it works well and ends soon.
