I also wanted to have a larger bed to put quilts on. Then a few people blogged about how much they loved their new metal bed from IKEA. Ooh. I've never had a metal bed. I was hooked and somehow hauled one home in my Honda Fit last Sunday. A brand-new mattress set from Original Mattress Factory and now I am sleeping as comfortably as the cats are:
This quilt is a wonderfully rough star quilt backed in homespun and quilted with very thick thread that I purchased at an isolated country auction in southern Indiana just north of Louisville many years ago. Don't you love that Depression Era green?

A metal bed from Ikea? its lovely. The quilt is gorgeous too! I hope you continue to get good nights sleep.
My cat's don't leave me any room on a big (queen?) bed!
The quilt is wonderful- Hope their is room for the cats.
Isn't it amazing how much room a small cat can take up in a bed?
I love your new iron bed! It looks wonderful with your star quilt. I didn't realize Ikea sold them - I've been looking for one, too.
I love the bed, I love the quilt, I love the cats!! Glad you are sleeping better, who wouldn't with that wonderful set up!
I have never seen Ikea's metal beds but boy am I intrigued now. Of course, everything looks good with a great quilt on it. I love the one you are using for your new bed. My old golden retriever loved to get on our bed (king size) with us and she preferred to get in the middle and stretch out sideways. Just who do these little furbabies think they are, anyway?
Cats Rule, Dogs Drool! Isn't that the mantra? I know that YOUR cats rule! How nice of you to get them a bigger bed! And it all looks lovely! Cool looking bed and the quilt is awesome. It all makes a very primitive picture! And your CW block is great? Are those circles really CW? Love the variegated fabric in the corners.
the quilt looks great on the new bed!
nice block, oh its not that busy :)
hope your having a wonderful weekend
Kathie
I love your new bed with the quilt on top. Now if I did that one of the cats would immediately thow up on the pretty vintage quilt. I guess I'm just lucky that way! Does that bed come in a Queen size too? I have a lot more cats.
I need a bed like that. Dolly thinks my single bed isn't big enough, even though she's got most of the room and I'm balanced on the edge. It's a good thing she doubles as my hot water bottle, or I might make her sleep in her own bed.
My kitties always slept on top of me, which didn't make for a good night's sleep either.
Your new bed looks fab!
Had no idea IKEA carried such a lovely...and it went in your FIT?!! WOW! I'm delighted you share your nest with your kitties.
Looks great...love the quilt on it!
Wow, that bed looks vintage! I like it! Lovely quilt on it, too. My chihuahua, Cabalito, sleeps with me. Sometimes I wake up and he is over on his side of the bed with his head on the pillow. Thinks he's human! LOL
Your bed is beautiful and the quilt looks just right - what a great picture.
pretty quilt on that nice new bed! Great new CW block too!
I used to have a lovely antique brass and iron bed that my Mum bought me when I was 11. As a foolish and impulsive 22yr old I sold it and have regretted it ever since! I'll be checking out those Ikea beds!! Love your Civil War block and can relate to the pretzel sleep, but with kids!
The new bed looks great and the quilt on it is perfect. We have a queen sized bed and I still am often trapped by our two cats. They lay against my legs - one on each side. Your civil war blocks are gorgeous!

Lovely bed, i also prefer metal beds over wooden ones as they are more sturdy and available in various styles and colors, you can also design your own easily by following some tutorial available on the internet.
