DS as a House Guest

When your teen-aged children come home to visit for the Thanksgiving Holidays, it may be Pure Norman Rockwell; at my house, it's more likely things like Timmy eating carrots while he showers:

While driving home from working at the LQS on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, traffic became impassable on the expressway, so I bailed out to the surface roads, which take me past a good junk store, My Favorite Place, on Peachtree Industrial. The junk looked disappointingly worse than usual as I made the circuit, but I turned a corner and came upon dozens of very good quilt books by people such as Kindred Spirits, Nancy Martin, Harriet Hargrave, Piece o Cake, etc., for about $4. I decided on these guys:

what a great deal on those books, surprised you didn't buy more for $1. each I guess I had better start visiting thrift stores too.
I love going into used book stores.
I have found a few good books that way.

Eating carrots while taking a shower . . . . don't they call that 'time stacking'? High powered folk get all sorts of kudos for being able to time stack well *s*

i love that store too...i was there about a month ago and picked up three books...$4.00 each...was it the booth right near the register?...i tried to show some restraint...but honestly when i got home i wished i had bought about eleven other books...

i haven't started my little quilt
or my composition book cover...
or the pincushion for the quild exchange...

but i made an amazingly moist turkey and spent lots of time with my girls who were also home from college...(no carrots in the shower but notecards with facts about pediatric nursing in the most unusual places...)

see you soon...barbara

Wow, I have seen a few strange things in my time, but a carrot in the shower is a first! LOL*

Great books you've found! I'm a huge thriftin' girl - I've purchased just about all of my quilt magazines that way, and many books too. Sometimes I get magazines that are only a month or two old, and once or twice I'd found the current issue! How's that for luck! :)

What a funny post! I am always amazed at how clean our girls keep their own apartments (and dorm rooms when they were in college) but when they come home to visit, it seems to fall away into a dim memory - dishes in the bedrooms, shoes everywhere - but I do love having them home.
