Love Those Acid Colors

We walked up Stone Mountain Easter afternoon, which was very pleasant, lots of people enjoying the day, although I like this photo that makes the mountaintop look a bit isolated:

The rock formations are very cool:

After dinner at Longhorn (salmon and chop steak), it was back to the quilt squares developing for the small Jo Morton quilt Calico Surprise. I yearned for more acid yellow and double pinks:

I looked in the usual places, like the stash collection of traditionals (not much there that I was hunting):

the Jo Morton stash collection (but I was veering away from those as I was likewise veering away from the rest of the quilt design):

Aha, here are a few yellows and pinks, stashed away in a shallow drawer:
...Desperately, she searched...

and emerged with the final result. Gotta get ready for work now and then class is tonight. Thank goodness my quilt homework is far enough along to be presentable :-).

What a fantastic landscape.
Why is it that no matter how much fabric you have you never seem to have just the right colour fabric ;-)

I love the way the blocks look, love those colors too. I noticed a "Little Quilts" pattern in one picture. I am desparately looking for the pattern to the Antique Jacobs Ladder crib quilt they had a few years back. I bought the kit from them, but somehow missed getting the magazine that had the pattern in it. I would appreciate it if you had any suggestions for me.
Blessings,
Susan.

I am quite partial to yellow myself and I love using it in my scrappy quilts. Yours turned out to be wonderful. Thank you for sharing so nice photos of antique quilts and of the show and tell. Take care.

I love the colors of your quilt blocks in contrast with your rock photos.

I laughed when I saw the upturned basket! We do get desperate sometimes looking for that special piece. Your quilt looks great!
BTW the rock formations are fantastic.

Wow, you've been very busy! I was going to hike Stone Mountain a couple weeks ago when I was there but ended up getting a massage and vegging by the pool - shame on me!

Congrats on your son - hope he hears good news from the Naval Academy.

I love seeing all your posts from your classes and Little Quilts.

I love the way the yellow plays off the bubble gum pink and poison green, especially. What a great quilt!

I just love the colours you have used. Another little piece of inspiration. I have the Jo Morton book of small quilts out of the library at the moment - I must give it a try.
